LIG D&A establishes U.S. subsidiary, LIG Defense U.S. Inc.

First overseas subsidiary since the company's rebranding as LIG D&A, positioned as a strategic hub for strengthening local partnerships

On April 7, LIG D&A announced the establishment of LIG Defense U.S. Inc. (LIG U.S.). LIG U.S. will undertake comprehensive initiatives across the board to enter the U.S. defense market—the largest and most advanced in the world—focusing on building local partnerships and facilitating technological exchange.
To lead these efforts, LIG U.S. has appointed as a senior advisor Vice Admiral Rich Brown (Ret.), who previously served as Commander of Naval Surface Forces and Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. Drawing on his extensive experience overseeing fleet-wide operations and leading efforts to enhance the combat readiness of U.S. surface forces, he is ideally positioned to strengthen ties with the U.S. Navy and drive business growth.
LIG D&A has been strengthening its global network through local offices in key markets, including Europe, Colombia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The establishment of a local subsidiary in the strategically significant U.S. market is expected to provide significant momentum for its global business expansion.
Also, the timing of this move comes in the wake of a significant validation for LIG D&A’s technologies. In July 2024, during the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) multinational naval exercise held in Hawaii, the company’s 2.75-inch guided rocket Poniard successfully passed the U.S. Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) program. Poniard’s FCT clearance made the company the first Korean defense company to have its differentiated guided-missile technology recognized by the United States.
