LIG D&A honors Korean War Veterans from the United States and New Zealand with a “promise to never forget”

As part of its global initiative to honor Korean War veterans, LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) visited veterans in New Zealand and the United States to express its profound gratitude, while sponsoring an event organized by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (MPVA) inviting United Nations (UN) Korean War veterans and their family members to Korea.
In March, LIG D&A extended its deepest appreciation to Korean War veterans and their families in New Zealand, who fought to defend the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. In particular, the company collaborated with Rami (Project Soldier), an acclaimed photographer specializing in documenting war veterans, to create a photographic record of the veterans and present them with framed portraits and letters expressing gratitude and respect.
During the Korean War, New Zealand deployed approximately 4,700 service members to participate in major engagements including the Incheon Landing Operation, the Battle of Gapyeong, and the Battle of Maryang San. Many of the fallen are buried at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea in Busan, with around 100 surviving veterans remaining today.
The New Zealand veterans expressed deep appreciation for Korea's enduring remembrance and gratitude. Veteran Daniel Herlihy said, “It was a truly meaningful opportunity to meet Koreans who had traveled such a long way to visit us. I wish the Republic of Korea continued prosperity.” Veteran Allan Cull also expressed his “deepest gratitude for LIG D&A's support.”
To further express its enduring gratitude, LIG D&A will also sponsor a commemorative luncheon at Lotte World Tower, where the company's Seoul office is located, in conjunction with the MPVA's invitation program for veterans and their family members from four Commonwealth nations (the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Gapyeong.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of LIG D&A’s participation in Sea-Air-Space 2026, a maritime-focused defense exhibition held in Maryland, LIG D&A President and CEO Shin Ik-hyun, together with officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States, visited Korean War veterans at a veterans home in Washington, D.C. to personally express his gratitude for their sacrifice and courage.
“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our company this year, we wanted to express our deepest gratitude to both Korean and overseas veterans whose noble sacrifice and courage helped defend our nation,” said CEO Shin Ik-hyun. “To repay the debt of gratitude we owe them, we will continue to contribute to national security through our core mission of strengthening Korea's defense capabilities while fulfilling our social responsibilities as a corporate citizen.”
