LIG D&A hosts Korea’s first Defense Agentic AI Cybersecurity Hackathon

“A new battlefield for defense AI opens”
LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A), a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital defense technology, is launching Korea’s first defense-focused agentic AI offensive-and-defensive cybersecurity hackathon, titled “Defense AI Cyber Security Hackathon (DAH),” as part of its efforts to secure key technologies for the future battlespace.
DAH is a technical competition designed to solve sophisticated real-world challenges arising in the defense industry and cybersecurity domains using AI technologies. Going beyond conventional idea generation competitions, DAH will take the form of an “attack-and-defense competition” where AI agents autonomously assess situations, make decisions, and execute offensive and defensive maneuvers, thereby advancing Korea's defense AI capabilities to the next level.
Applications for the competition will be accepted through the official website (dah.ai.kr) until June 14. Following preliminary rounds, the finalist teams will compete in a fiercely contested technical showdown on August 21 at SKY31 Convention in Lotte World Tower, Jamsil, Seoul. The competition offers a total prize pool of KRW 20 million, with winners receiving preferential consideration when applying for positions at LIG D&A. It will take place in a state-of-the-art cloud-based technical environment.
Participants will design AI models using real-world datasets to demonstrate and validate their ability to solve complex challenges in a simulated cyber battlespace. LIG D&A expects the technological capabilities and data infrastructure generated through this competition to serve as a cornerstone for enhancing the digital competitiveness of the Korean defense industry (“K-Defense”) and accelerating the realization of intelligent Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) systems.

Meanwhile, LIG D&A, which unveiled an “AI-enabled integrated command-and-control system” designed to support timely and informed decision-making through AI and big-data platforms at ADEX last year, has been concentrating its capabilities on the rapid acquisition, validation, and demonstration of advanced defense technologies. As part of this effort, the company established a new organization called the Technology Innovation Division this year. Furthermore, LIG D&A has been strengthening its leadership in cyber warfare response systems following its selection as the prime contractor for the Cyber Battlespace Management System in 2023.
