LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) announced its participation in BSDA 2026 (Black Sea Defense & Aerospace), the largest defense exhibition in Eastern Europe, taking place in Bucharest, Romania, from May 13 to 15 (local time).
Through this exhibition, LIG D&A will showcase the superior capabilities of Korean guided weapons to NATO and EU member states, while launching full-scale marketing initiatives to expand its presence in the European market, focusing on integrated air defense solutions.
- Strategic partnership with Romania deepens, building on milestone achievements of the Chiron
The highlight of this exhibition is the successful track record of cooperation with Romania. The Chiron Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) project, signed with Romania in November 2023, is slated for successful completion this month. This marks the first instance of a Korean air defense system entering the NATO market and is widely regarded as a milestone that has elevated the credibility of Korea's defense industry to the next level.
To commemorate the successful completion of the program, LIG D&A will host a project completion ceremony on-site at the exhibition, while engaging in in-depth discussions on follow-up cooperation, including additional Chiron procurements and the potential construction of a multi-layered defense architecture to further strengthen Romania’s national defense capabilities.

At this exhibition, LIG D&A will showcase an advanced portfolio spanning the land, sea, and air domains.
Building on the trust established through the successful delivery of the Chiron program, the company presents a comprehensive range of air defense systems, including K-SAAM (Haegung), M-SAM-II (Cheongung), and L-SAM. It also features precision strike systems designed to address emerging drone threats and the evolving battlespace, such as the 2.75-inch guided rocket Poniard, CIWS-II, mobile integrated counter-drone systems, laser weapon systems, and anti-tank guided missiles. Additionally, the exhibition highlights its naval unmanned capabilities, led by the Sea Sword-2 and Sea Sword-5 unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and autonomous unmanned vehicles (AUVs).
- Seeking to secure a European foothold and build an Eastern European hub
Moving beyond simply selling products, LIG D&A is accelerating its supply chain expansion through partnerships with leading global defense companies while reinforcing its in-country logistics support. Its German office, opened in September last year, serves as a strategic foothold for strengthening cooperation across Europe. As its business in Romania expands, the company is exploring the establishment of a local office in Romania. When established, the Romanian office is expected to serve as a regional business hub for Eastern Europe, maximizing cooperative synergies with neighboring countries.
