LIG D&A and Dtonic sign MOU to accelerate development of defense AI platform L-NODE

LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) has partnered with Dtonic, an AI data platform company, to advance AI-enabled operating environments supporting software-defined defense (SDD) in response to the rapid digitization of battlespaces.
On May 29, LIG D&A and Dtonic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of the defense-specialized AI platform “L-NODE” at LIG D&A’s Pangyo House. The signing ceremony was attended by senior executives from both companies, including Lee Seung-young, Head of the Technology Innovation Division at LIG D&A; Kim Jin-hoon, Head of the D2C Lab at LIG D&A; Jun Yong-ju, CEO of Dtonic; and Kwon Jin-man, Vice President of Dtonic.
The partnership seeks to strengthen technological capabilities for combat management and command-and-control (C2) systems on the future battlefield by combining LIG D&A's defense expertise and Dtonic's AI operating system (OS) technology.
L-NODE (LIG Neural Ontology Decision Engine) is a defense-specific agentic AI platform that combines ontology-based knowledge systems with agentic AI. It is being developed to maximize integrated operational capabilities—including Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T)—through collaboration among defense AI agents in battlefield environments where the physical and cyber domains converge. The project is being led by the Technology Innovation Division, a new LIG D&A organization established to proactively secure next-generation technologies.
Dtonic's proprietary AI platform “D.Hub” will be integrated as the core engine for L-NODE. D.Hub independently handles the entire end-to-end data lifecycle—from collection and classification to processing and analysis—while providing stable operational continuity based on a cloud-native architecture, even in air-gapped environments.
This partnership aims to integrate key technologies into L-NODE: ontology-based tactical intelligence for AI-driven contextual understanding of battlefield situations; a hybrid retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system capable of causal reasoning across battlefield data; Geo-Hiker, a high-speed computing engine capable of real-time analysis of large-scale spatiotemporal battlefield data; and a multi-agent system (MAS) in which agents responsible for detection, analysis, response and engagement collaborate to complete complex missions.
“Since 2025, our two companies have proven to be ideal partners, building a strong foundation of technical trust through joint development projects, including AI-based naval combat systems,” said Kim Jin-hoon, Head of the D2C Lab and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at LIG D&A, adding “Through close collaboration, we will do our best to further advance the L-NODE solution and raise our military’s intelligent combat capabilities to the next level.”
