LIG D&A celebrates its historic 50th anniversary

LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) successfully held its 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 26, 2026, with over 2,000 employees gathering on the grounds of Gumi House.
The event was organized to honor the hard work and dedication of the employees who have devoted themselves over the past half-century to building Korea's independent defense capabilities and expanding the Korean defense industry (“K-Defense”), while pledging a new leap forward into the next 100 years. Going beyond a conventional ceremony, the celebration served as a “festival” where all employees came together to celebrate the company's remarkable 50-year journey and achievements and renew their shared commitment to carrying forward the success story of sustainable K-defense.
A highlight of the event was the Heritage Zone set up in one corner. The exhibition drew an enthusiastic response from participants. It traced LIG D&A's evolution from Goldstar Precision, which was founded in 1976 to provide depot maintenance for U.S.-made Nike and Hawk missiles, into a global defense company spanning the land, sea, air, space, and cyber domains. By presenting key milestones and achievements in a clear and engaging format, the showcase offered employees a moving look back at its history and inspired a renewed sense of pride. The event also featured a variety of engaging activities designed to help employees from across the country connect with the company's 50-year legacy, including a 1976 Experience Zone, a photo zone, an exhibition of patriotic artwork by employees' children, nostalgic memorabilia, and a 50-Year Time Capsule exhibit.
Shin Ik-hyun, President and CEO of LIG D&A, said in his congratulatory address, “Fifty years represents far more than the passage of time. From Goldstar Precision to LIG D&A, it reflects the ‘depth of trust’ we have built together and the ‘record of growth’ we have achieved as one team, supporting and empowering one another along the way. Guided by a spirit of openness and collaboration, we will give our all to deliver unmatched ‘Total Defense Solutions’.”
To add even more significance to its 50th anniversary, LIG D&A is hosting a range of events promoting company-wide communication and unity, while fulfilling its corporate social responsibility to honor those who have served the nation.
From June 19 to July 12, the company is hosting the LIG D&A 50th Anniversary Korean War Veterans Tribute Photo Exhibition in the Special Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the War Memorial of Korea. On June 20, employees and their families from the Seoul metropolitan area participated in the Turtle Marathon, an event honoring the noble sacrifice and service of patriots and veterans, during which the company donated KRW 100 million to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
